hi, all i want to modify the difinition of TBCDField in DB.pas. But When i want to install it , the matter is : How Can I Make Delphi use the Unit Modified? The package file is not provided and there is no way to rebuild the package. However you can make you modification and replace the corresponding dcu found in $(DELPHI)\Lib and $(DELPHI)\Lib\Debug, then your modification will be effective in the compiled executables (NOT build with the runtime package).

Even if you could modify the runtime package, your modification will make the package incompatible with other application. And I think this is the reasone why Borland chooses not to include the package source. Perhaps you could create your own field type but then I think it is easier to search the whole project and change the field to float type. Or perhaps you could keep the type as is and reformat the field display together with proper transformation at the input?
