Hi all, My situation is that I have some SQL servers, some of them are running MsSQL 2000, some of them are running MsSQL 7. My program have some operation that need to use data across those servers. I found out that if I logon the server running MsSQL 2000 the following SQL work fine while it doesn't when I logon the server running MsSQL 7. select count(*) from OPENDATASOURCE('SQLOLEDB', 'DATA SOURCE=Server1; USER ID=sa;PASSWORD=sa').some_db.dbo.some_table It seems that when I logon the server running MsSQL 7, it seems to be unable to access or find the remote MsSQL 2000 server. How to fix this? Thanks for any reply. Mark Leung

Hi, if you want to do so, please use the linked server in SQL SERVER. Check the [sp_addlinkedserver] stored procedure in help to see how to configure the linked server.
