You feed to TxQuery with one or more TDataSet descendant components placed on same or another form or data module with property DataSets and issue an SQL statement referencing that datasets. Optionally you can give an alias to the datasets, that will be the name used in the SQL statement (instead of "Table1" you will use "Customer" in the SQL). Features:

SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE and INSERT fully supported
You can: INNER/OUTER JOIN, GROUP BY, ORDER BY
Subqueries allowed
Have more functions than SQL standard
Ability to add own functions to be used in SQL syntax without changing source code
