The TatukGIS Developer Kernel (DK) supports full GIS functionality and is distinguished from
most competing GIS Developer Kernels by the following: independence from third party software
libraries and royalty obligations, support of GIS standards and competing GIS data formats,
freedom from software legacy limitations, small footprint, significantly greater speed, and ease of
installation and customization. The TatukGIS DK principally competes against, and may be
compared to, the industry leading GIS development kernels, Map Xtreme by Map Info and Map
Object by ESRI. Unlike these GIS kernels, however, TatukGIS compiles into an application
that is a single executable file, eliminating the need for Dynamic Library Links (DLL) and resulting
in extremely easy installation (no DLL hassles).
And TatukGIS DK is free of the overhead of the Borland Database Engine (BDE), which further
simplifies the installation process and significantly improves the speed. In many instances
TatukGIS DK also offers more advanced functionality than the similar Map Info and ESRI
products and runs much faster. Yet TatukGIS DK is fully compatible with the Map Info and
ESRI data formats and, therefore, may be incrementally introduced, as a more affordable
alternative, into organizations running Map Info or ESRI based applications.
