I don't think there is other easy way to do it. Perhaps you could perform the validation in the OnChange event and prevent user from entering invalid data?

I think the Screen.OnActiveControlChange occurs before the OnExit since ActiveControl will be set before the OnExit. Take a look at the OnActiveControlChange example on the help
