FreeDOS http://www.freedos.org/ Bugzilla is back! The FreeDOS bugs have been re-imported into the new Bugzilla system. I haven't finished updating the Bugzilla templates to use the FreeDOS.org look and feel, but I'll fix that soon. In the meantime, I thought FreeDOS developers would like to have access to their bugs. 2005-04-22 Fritz has posted his FreeDOS Lite 0.9final. The intention of this CD is not only to distribute software but to help people which have problems with their machine. 2004-12-01 Bernd Blaauw has posted the FreeDOS Beta9 (Service Release #1). ISO image or 1.44MB boot floppy image are available. Please see the FreeDOS 1.0 To-do list and the list of bugs for which more feedback would be helpful. Note that some items were moved to the Post 1.0 To-do list. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DEVLOAD 3.15 - better "Quiet" and disk driver compatibility mceric - 2005-07-15 15:16 Hi, you can now download DEVLOAD 3.15 from http://www.coli.uni-sb.de/~eric/stuff/soft/by-others/devload-3.15.zip - compared to version 3.13, the new version is a bit smaller on disk (made messages compress better), the /Q (quiet) flag now really means quiet and suppresses even the UMB (/H) feedback and the driver-staying-resident message, and, probably the most useful change, the number of drive letters is now initialized if you load disk drivers which fail to initialize the drive letter count in their own headers themselves (which could lead to DOS acting strangely after loading such disk drivers with older DEVLOAD versions). Enjoy. The disk patch solves DWDOS ramdisk problems and the stronger /Q mode is inspired by a patch by Erwin Veermans for NWDSK. [Read More] FORMAT 0.91u, a bit of tuning mceric - 2005-07-15 14:41 Hi, you may want to upgrade to FORMAT 0.91u (on http://www.coli.uni-sb.de/~eric/stuff/soft/by-others/format-0.91u.zip 25 May 2005 version). Reasons for doing so: The chars which are allowed in the volume label are now the same as in MS DOS, you can now format some RAMDISKs down to 1 FAT, 1 sector per FAT (underflow fixed), FORMAT now tries harder to create info / backup boot sectors for FAT32 (improved DR DOS compatibility) and you should now be able to compile FORMAT with OpenWatcom. Thanks to the label-tester and the compile-tester who helped with this :-). It features a USB request block interface to send and receive data from any USB device. The driver comes with a USBView application which shows the descriptors of a USB device. There are also samples how to print to USB printers, read from USB floppy drives and card readers, display USB mouse positions and get data from a USB camera. The driver is a DOS only application and will not run in a Windows DOS box. It is free for personal use. Download the driver from: http://www.georgpotthast.de/usb/index.html " [Read More] EMM386 2.04/HIMEM 3.11 update, recommended jhall1 - 2005-07-08 05:38 Michael Devore writes: "Uploaded to ftp://ftp.devoresoftware.com/downloads/emm386 are the files emmx204.zip, EMM386/HIMEM mostly executable package, and emms204.zip, EMM386/HIMEM mostly source package. EMM386 2.04 and HIMEM 3.11 are bugfix updates. HIMEM 3.11 is a recommended update for all FreeDOS users. EMM386 2.04 is less important, but probably a good idea. This release of HIMEM fixes a problem with the /NUMHANDLES option. If the number of handles was less than 72, XMS handles reporting utilities such as MEM.EXE might display garbage values. Also, since HIMEM placed the handle count in the wrong memory location -- potentially a critical flaw for a small, but indeterminate number of users -- everyone should update to the latest version. The latest EMM386 release fixes two errors with EMS." [Read More] ReSizeable RAMDisk 2.09 now under GNU GPL jhall1 - 2005-06-20 05:35 Marko Kohtala decided to re-release his ReSizeable RAMDisk (srdisk) under GNU GPL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/srdisk - SRDISK is fast virtual disk for FreeDOS and other MS-DOS compatible systems. It is capable of using over 32M of XMS and EMS memory. The disk can be disabled and it's size can be changed without rebooting and loss of content. This release is almost the same as the previous 2.08 release which was released as shareware. In this version the software is now available with source code under GNU GPL license. 'StopTCPA' writes to tell us that HX-DOS has received another update: "Today Japheth updated his HX-DOS extender. New version: 07/15/2005, V1.26: HDPMI V1.9.1, DPMILD32 V2.9.4, DKRNL32 V2.8.20. Update recommended, since previous versions do conflict with EMM386 (a fatal exception occurs). HX-DOS is a very useful product that drastically increases the usability of FreeDOS (you can run command-line Win32 programs from DOS.) Known problems: ** Some progs need MSVCRT.DLL from Windows (the one from ReactOS does not work) ** File date & time is passed wrongly (so wrong dates are stored in 7-ZIP archives.)" Japheth's HX DOS Extender is available at http://www.japheth.de/HX.html [Read More] EMM386 2.03 (minor, for WDOSX) jhall1 - 2005-06-17 07:59 Michael Devore has posted a new version of FreeDOS EMM386: "Uploaded to ftp://ftp.devoresoftware.com/downloads/emm386 are the files emmx203.zip, EMM386/HIMEM mostly executable package, and emms203.zip, EMM386/HIMEM mostly source package. EMM386 Version 2.03 is a minor update, recommended for those using programs which are bound to the WDOSX DOS extender. It fixes an error which could cause those programs to crash or fail at startup. If you do not ever use the WDOSX extender, 2.03 should operate no differently than 2.02. Specifically, 2.03 saves the high word of the EAX register when servicing VCPI function DE04h, allocation 4K page. WDOSX apparently uses the high word of the EAX register across the DE04h call, and certain values can make it fail." You can download it right away from http://gem.shaneland.co.uk - GEMini is a tiny GUI file manager for FreeDOS with drag and drop, and a text file viewer. It has been tested on FreeDOS Beta 9, Windows98SE, Windows2000 and WindowsXP. Naturally, it works best on FreeDOS. GEMini Release 3 is an important turning point for software in Shane Land. We're moving closer to OpenGEM Release 4 (the fourth major release of our full GUI distribution), and we're focusing on three things: - Reliability - Scalability - Usability." GEMini Release 3 is also mirrored at http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/gui/opengem/gemini/ ** And if you're a developer, don't forget about the OpenGEM SDK, announced a few weeks ago at http://gem.shaneland.co.uk/ - a collection of tools, source code and binary for the creation of OpenGEM/GEM/FreeGEM applications, or for altering the GEM GUI enviroment. It's the most complete collection of tools, code and applications yet released for the platform. The file system part has been rearranged for better modularity, and it is now using a new Unicode support library and NLS manager. As usual, we are interested in any problem people may find in this release, and whether the problems were present in the 0.0.4 release or are introduced in 0.0.5. In the next release we plan to include the following features currently under development: an ATAPI CD-ROM driver, an ISO 9660 file system driver (for CD-ROMs), an improved brand new FAT driver, a LEAN file system driver, and better support for applications." [Read More] New FDXMS and FDXMS286 jhall1 - 2005-05-30 13:38 MartinS has posted new versions of FDXMS and FDXMS286. New in FDXMS 0.94.Bananas: - After chaining INT 0x15 AH=0x87, execute a correct return. - Functions 0xf and 0x8f (realloc) broken because BX was destroyed before used. - Don't touch BL on a successful calls unless the specification says it should be zeroed. - Thank you to Peter Nagy and Eric Auer for testing. / New in FDXMS286 0.03.Temperaments: - Severe error when moving more than 0x2000 bytes of data to/from XMS corrected. - Thank you to Eric Auer for testing. / Both are available from http://www.ludd.ltu.se/~ams/freedos/ or http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/dos/fdxms/ [Read More] [News archive] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/fdoslite/0.9final/fdoslite09final.zip 下載應23.4MB 解壓後 ISO檔 46.5MB
