After giving an overview of "The New Building Blocks", the first section deals with the portability issue about them. It is also the opportunity to present samples. In section 2, discover IDE Packages. Section 3 describes Desktop Windows. In section 4, learn to write Design Windows. The last section is an introduction to hot new Custom Modules interfaces coming with Delphi 5. Though this paper is aimed at users of the Open Tools API (OTA), you hardly use this standard OTA here. Thus, you don't have to know anything about writing experts (read Lischner[97] if you are hungry). You only need to be reasonably familiar with DsgnIntf.pas. There is an unusual amount of sample code in the packages accompanying the article. After reading, you'll find it is best to study them before writing IDE extensions with the building blocks.
