Better information in the to-do list 資料來源: www.delphi3000.com I'm freelance and take a daily detailed detail of tasks done in Delphi's projects is very important.
Until the new To-do list of Delphi 5 I used Lotus Organizer. Since Delphi 5 I have the task in the source, with fast edit and review of the task.
For a development task I need: release of the application, category (bug, internal or desired by user), description and... the delay time.
This is the time since the day that user say me: "I want this" and the day that I say the user: "I have done it".
The problem: Very difficult to fit this information in the to-do list, but... I have found a solution:
1.- The release of the project: In the category; I write PROJECT 1.8 (i.e.), PROJECT 1.9 and so on. So I know in wich release I put the task (= modification of the program). For pending task simply I write category PROJECT
2.- In the owner I write: DAY IN DAY OUT owner (i.e.: 01/01/2001 10/01/2001 Diego). The owner could be Diego (or internal tasks), User (an modification that user wants) or bug (no comments, always bugs).
So, for example (in dd/mm/yyyy format, I'm spanish; project "XYZ"):
{ DONE -o11/05/2001 20/05/2001 User -cXYZ 2.0: new button in blue}
{ TODO -o22/05/2001 User -cXYZ : the button in red}
That is: User want a button in blue, day 11/05/2001, I give him day 20/05/2001, in release 2.0, with a delay time of 9 days (from 11 to 20)
In day 22/05/2001 the user wants the button in red (you know... the users.... ) and is not done yet. When I'll do it, it will be:
{ DONE -o11/05/2001 20/05/2001 User -cXYZ 2.0: new button in blue}
{ DONE -o22/05/2001 25/05/2001 User -cXYZ 2.1: the button in red}
That's: in release 2.1, day 25/05/2001, I give to the user the button in red. (delay time of 3 days, very difficult button.color:=clred ;) ).
And know... the report. Sometimes, I need to give my clients a report with all task and the time that I spent in it. With this trick, I simply
copy the to-do list as text, paste into excel and the delay time of task is simply a formula, in the owner cell we have:
"11/05/2001 20/05/2001 User", so simply, add a new column, add a tittle "DELAY TIME" and the formula in each cell of the "delay time" column is (for example, if owner is in D2 cell):
=SI(ESERROR(EXTRAE(D2;12;10)-EXTRAE(D2;1;10));"PENDIENTE";EXTRAE(D2;12;10)-EXTRAE(D2;1;10)) (in spanish)
=IF(ISERROR(EXTRACT(D2;12;10)-EXTRACT(D2;1;10));"NOT IMPLEMENTED";EXTRACT(D2;12;10)-EXTRACT(D2;1;10)) (in english, I hope, my excel also is spanish). That's simply extract the two dates and subsctracts.
With this I have an excel sheet with the task, and the delay time. You could use this system in another tags of the todo comment. 網路志工聯盟----Visita網站http://www.vista.org.tw
